Packing Support Plates As well as providing the physical support to the packed bed, a support plate must also allow unrestricted flow of both the gas and liquid streams through the tower. Liquid Distribution Systems It is important the liquid distributor delivers liquid evenly over the surface of a packed bed such that, there is equal liquid volume flow rate per unit area of the bed surface.
